Detector Development
Experiments in nuclear physics almost always require the highly sensitive detection of photons, ions or neutrons. The new and further development of detection and analysis techniques therefore holds the potential for new physical discoveries. Our working group is involved in a number of projects. These include
- Development, construction and testing of the neutron detector "NeuLAND" as part of the R3B collaboration for FAIR.
- Further development of digital signal processing for particle and gamma radiation detectors.
- Optimization of measurement setups for gamma and particle spectroscopy.
- Development of fiber scintillation detectors for beam tracking at FAIR.
The projects are funded by the BMBF, the NRW-FAIR network, the German Research Foundation and the GSI Helmholtz Center via R&D projects.
