Activities

The tasks of the workshop include

• Design, construction and production of new apparatus, detectors and spectrometers for basic nuclear physics research and its applications.
• Maintenance, repairs, modifications, additions and extensions to the 10 MV accelerator and the AMS accelerator.
• Modifications and extensions to existing, already manufactured systems.
• Modifications and adaptations to new conditions and requirements of the test facilities.
• Maintenance and extensions to the beamlines and their experimental equipment.
• Adaptation of purchased parts and equipment to special requirements that are not commercially available.

The mechanical work requires a specific combination of precision mechanics, vacuum technology, electronics, high-voltage technology and low-temperature technology. The assignments are carried out in close cooperation with the group leaders, doctoral students and undergraduates as well as the electronics workshop at the IKP.
